Can Patients’ Use Their Insurance, Health Flex, and Savings, and/or Health Reimbursement Accounts for Massotherapy & Other Treatments?
Yes, they should be able too as long as their insurance companies accept massage therapy or treatments Dr. Hartman does on the doctor side of her business. You have to LOOK over in your insurance plans.
Dr. Hartman does not accept assignment, file or submit insurance claims, or deal with insurance companies. If patients or therapy clients want to try to get reimbursements from their insurance company, they need to check their insurance plans FIRST before filling out and submitting any forms and/or receipts. She does NOT have a W-9 form etc. and will not submit any revised claims either. Although, there are many treatments and therapies that should be covered (but not a guarantee) by your Insurance Provider and/or that you are able to use a Flex, HSA, or HRA to reimburse yourself for service(s). Unfortunately, at this time Integrative, natural, alternative, and biological medicine, metabolic chaos, health or food scans, quantum biofeedback, ultrasonic cavitation, etc. are not covered by any insurance companies. However, we are working to get these recognized and eventually covered for patients.
Those therapy clients and patients wanting to try to cover services, need to find out whether or not their plan covers it and/or speak directly with your provider. Example: If your insurance plan or provider says “Massage Therapy” is covered, then therapy clients have to submit all forms with correct information, use codes that apply to “massage therapy” – NOT physical therapy; Dr. Hartman does not have these codes. If your insurance plan or provider tells you “we do not cover massage therapy,” then you should NOT fill out any forms/claims or submit any personal receipts. Therapy clients’ CANNOT put “Doctor Hartman” for “massage therapy,” she is NOT a doctor of massage therapy – there is NO such thing. (If there was Dr. Hartman would have it) Her PhD’s & Doctorates are in completely different fields -NOT traditional massage therapy- this is falsifying her information. Nor can any therapy clients or patients say they saw Dr. Hartman “for medical reasons” or that she is “their primary physician”, “was under her care,” or “is their medical healthcare provider who performed healthcare services.” This is falsifying her information. Dr. Hartman is NOT a medical physician, nor does she claim to be, and she DOES NOT medically diagnose, practice, prescribe, identify, treat or claim to treat ANY medical conditions or aliments. You cannot submit or claim anything different than what Dr. Hartman does; otherwise, this is falsifying her credentials and information…which is illegal.
Please use the below references to determine what CPT code(s) you would like to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement(s) if your plan covers massage, rehabilitation, soft tissue manipulation, manual lymph drainage or manual therapies etc.
NOTE: Dr. Hartman is not a Medical or Osteopathic Physician, Health Care Provider, Chiropractor, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Physical Therapist and Insurance forms cannot be filed for anything other than what therapy clients or patients received. Example massage and/or manual therapy-depending on how your insurance company perceives “manual” therapy, most will assume this is physical therapy – which is incorrect. Above there is a website reference for the differences between the too…manual is physical, occupational, and massage and medical massage therapies. Unfortunately, at this time the health and food scans are not covered by insurance or any insurance plans. However, the company is working hard to get them covered.
Basic CPT Understandings : CPT is the acronym for Current Procedural Terminology – simply put, procedure codes. CPT codes are written to describe a procedure. Some CPT codes describe procedures, which are exclusive to a specific modality of work, while others describe procedures, which are more general and may be used by several different modalities. The American Medical Association (AMA) publishes the official CPT Manual. All CPT codes, which can be used for massage therapy and are found in the Physical Medicine section of that manual.
Prices are as stated. Dr. Hartman does not charge extra for anything. Everything you are charged you know about ahead of time BEFORE you make an appointment. There are NO hidden fees. If prices increase and you’re a patient or therapy client of Dr. Hartman’s, you will know ahead of time before new prices are adjusted. Dr. Hartman know’s there are some businesses out there that commit “insurance fraud,” and will charge more than what your appointment was for. She does NOT like nor have much respect for those businesses. Dr. Hartman tells ALL of her patients and therapy clients to check everything and question any charges they have that they are not sure of or unaware of. Dr. Hartman is a Christian and is NOT deceitful! She wishes she could say the same for other businesses.
