In a city of firsts, Dr. Hartman brings to her patients another NEW and awesome treatment; Photodynamic Light Therapy with Far Infrared. Dr. Hartman likes to offer unique therapies and treatments not offered locally and/or in the state to her patients. This way, she can “spread the love,” by referring patients to businesses that offer things she doesn’t and/or that compliment what she is offering. She believes in supporting all businesses, and appreciates their support as well.
What is PDT Light Therapy? it’s a medical grade treatment that improves skin conditions, reduces inflammation, helps with pain relief and much more. Helps with complicated skin problems. Facilitates regeneration, sooths, and resolves skin troubles.
Light Therapy: the unit Dr. Hartman purchased comes with several different lights for multiple health benefits and combination light therapy too. Some examples listed below:
Prior to acne treatments: clean face with a microdermabrasion or a scrub. This helps reduce acne pustules and reduce blackheads.
Results: usually show within the first five sessions, however, follow-up session are necessary for some health challenges, e.g., control of acne symptoms long term. Post-treatment skincare products may also need to be purchased and used at the beginning of treatments.
How long is a treatment session? 15mins up to 60mins depending on the location and severity of the affected area.
Time Recovery? No. This is a non-invasive treatment that helps several areas of the body.
Side Effects? Some people have experienced a mild burning or stinging sensation over 30mins. Itching, skin redness, swelling etc. lasting a few hours after treatment. A tightening or firmness afterwards. Acne flare ups due to killing the bacteria which resolves within 48 to 72hrs.
After treatments: it is recommended not to go out into the sunlight for 48hours following treatments due to risk of sunburn due to the skin being treated, healing taking place, and allowing the area to rejuvenate naturally. It is also recommended to avoid products containing oils or waxes, lotions, makeup etc. for 12 up to 24hrs after treatments. This helps to not clog up the pour in the skin.
Contraindications: patients with lupus and those with porphyrin allergies or rare blood disorder call porphyria; may be more sensitive to the light therapy and should consider avoiding PDT.
